In times of transitions and turmoil we are often left feeling lost or needing of more support and direction from outside of ourselves. Nature provides an opportunity to communicate with the elements that have been available to us since time immemorial. This workshop is the reminder and the exercising of the physical and spirit connections we have with nature.
Join this self-care workshop to reclaim methods of communication between nature, our human existence, AND condition. I will introduce the guides given to us in nature and society that support us in reclaiming who we are by understanding their differences and function. In this workshop we will:
Understand both guides that I present; nature guide and society guide
Connect ourselves to these “guides” in how they show up in our personal and professionals lives & work towards a balancing
Put those guides into practice (reclaiming) as we go about our daily lives
(Optional/ Add-on field trip) Apply these guides in a real time experience with a field trip to a local park. Learn how to walk in nature (hike) in a new, intentional way for self improvement and the practice of giving and receiving.
The benefits of this workshop will:
Provide clarity and grounding in any challenging situations you may be faced with currently, manage daily stress and anxiety, and provide a first step in formulating a direction towards a more balanced and healthy life
Help you understand a more deeper connection to nature that is rooted in indigenous spiritual principles

Details & what to bring
We will begin indoors and in the garden space with a gathering that grounds us as a community of support. Please bring an object that represents your connection to nature or an object of significance you are open to sharing with the group for that day.
Presentations of the guides will start us off in understanding this concept of "Reclaiming Connections" Various hands-on activities, writing, and discussions will bring us to a place of deeper understanding of self. Opportunities for self reflection in silence will be honored throughout.
About The Space
We are gathering at Oakland SOL (sustaining ourselves locally) in East Oakland, supporting the efforst of this lovely space to create safe and supportive ways to honor our diversity and self-determination. The indoor space will be a place to gather as well as the garden space to begin the practice of connecting with nature. Please be mindful that this is an active living space for the SOL-mates.
Optional/Add-on Field Trip outdoors
This field trip to a more natural area is an optional part of the workshop and is intended to put into practice, the tools we were given during the workshop. We’ll meet in a local park (location to be given after registration) that will be suited for a fairly intimate meeting so we can begin applying the conceptual guides into a real practice. We will gather, ground ourselves for the process, walk in meditation, and practice the steps in reclaiming your connection to nature.
This workshop and field trip are scheduled for late afternoon so we can hike as the sunset approaches. Sunsets are a great time to process these connections and connect to the cycle of life. Please bring layers and appropriate footwear as weather can shift dramatically and terrain will vary. Rain out dates are scheduled as follows and will be honored on the next offering of this workshop.
Rain out date 1- Sunday, May 7th
Rain out date 2- Sunday, May 21st
Please arrange for your own transportation or carpool before or during the workshop. Location will be a local park no further than a 20 minute drive from Solespace.
